Deleting Errors in 48 Hours

This is the absolute fastest way to correct errors on your credit report and raise your credit score. However, it can only be done through a mortgage company or a bank. If you apply for a home loan and find errors on your credit report, request the loan officer to conduct a Rapid Rescore. But don't mistake it for the credit clinic tactic of multiple dispute letters.

The Rapid Rescore strategy requires proper paperwork. You need proof that the item is incorrect. It must come from the creditor directly. For example, a letter stating the account is not your account, a letter stating the account was paid satisfactorily, a release of lien, a satisfaction of judgment, a bankruptcy discharge, a letter for deletion of collection account or any relevant evidence.

This is the same documentation a bank or mortgage company would require for the credit accounts anyways. The difference is, now you can improve your credit score and receive a lower interest rate. The results are not guaranteed and will run you about $50 per account.

2. Deleting Negative Credit

This is the infamous area where you've heard of all the scams. Credit repair clinics charge "an arm and a leg" and promise a clean credit report. Sometimes even a new credit profile! People spending hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars for something they can do themselves.

Removing errors is simple. Deleting negative credit that is accurate requires advanced methods. But that is not the scope of this report. So I'll focus on the deleting the negative errors.

Credit report errors easily disappear by using a simple dispute letter. If you have the paperwork proving the error as mentioned above in Rapid Rescore, send copies of that along with the dispute letter. This will make the credit bureau's job easier and you will get faster results.

If you don't have the documentation to prove the error(s), send the dispute letter anyway. According to federal law, the credit bureau's have a "reasonable time" to validate your claim. They will contact the creditor for verification of your dispute. Then the account will be reported accurately - or deleted. It has been generally accepted the "reasonable time" to complete this task is 30 days.

If you're not the do-it-yourself kind of person. Or don't have the time. You could hire someone who is very economical.

3. PiggyBack Someone's Credit

This is a fast and great little credit score booster. But it requires a very trusting relationship. Simply put, someone else adds you to their credit account. For example, when applying for a credit card, you may have seen the section to add a card holder. If your trusting person adds you, their payment history is now reported on your credit report too. If they have perfect credit, now you have a perfect account.

To make this more effective, use an aged account. Imagine if your trusted person has a 10 year old credit card account with a perfect payment history and a balance of only 50% of the credit limit. Wouldn't you love to have this on your credit report? The easy part is your trusted person just calls the credit card company and requests a form to add a cardholder. Once completed and activated, their entire account history and future is now firmly planted on your account. Imagine if you secured 3-5 of these accounts - especially installment accounts. Your credit score could sky-rocket!

The challenging part? Finding the trusted person. Since you already have a low credit score and bad credit, how eager will someone be to make you a cardholder? Even your parents don't want you to damage their credit. But, no one says you need to possess the card! In other words, your trusted person could add you as a card holder and never give you the card or PIN or any information. Since the bills and all account information is still mailed to the trusted person's address, you won't know anything about the account. This scenario could land you many trusted persons. And you still benefit with a higher credit score.

4. Playing Round Robin

This strategy is one of the oldest credit building techniques around. It used to be accomplished with secured savings accounts. But now, it's much easier with secured credit cards. In fact, I've used this method myself.

Here's how it works: Take ,000 (or what you can afford) and get a secured credit card. Once received, get a cash advance of 70% of your credit limit. Get a second secured credit card. Once received, get a cash advance of 70% of your credit limit. Get a third secured credit card. Once received, get a cash advance of 70% of your credit limit.

Open a new checking account with the final cash advance. Use this account only for making payments on your three new credit cards. If you make your payments on time every month, your credit score will increase because you now have three new perfect payment credit cards. (Initially, your credit score might drop a few points due to the rapid, multiple accounts being opened. However, be patient because within 4 months of no new accounts or any delinquencies of any account, you will see your credit score increase. Mine increased 60 points in 60 days!!)

5. Pay on Time

This one is quite obvious. But after 12.5 years in the mortgage business, I discovered it still needs repeating. Your creditors were gracious enough to loan you money. Now pay your damn bills! If you don't, your credit score decreases. EVEN IF ONLY 30 DAYS LATE!

That's right folks. For some reason people think, "I'm only a few weeks late. What's the big deal?" Well, for the loan company, if you pay late but consistent, they make a lot more money with late fees and more interest (if a simple interest loan). For you, your credit score is damaged. If you think long-term and credit score, I'm certain you would not have a cavalier attitude.

6. Pay Down Debts

This seems like an obvious method, doesn't it? But it is not as transparent as you might think. Remember, we're playing with high-level statistics and probabilities which evaluates and forecasts trends in your behavior. Here's what you do...

Never pay off your revolving debt in it's entirety! Isn't that a surprise? Think about it. Your credit score is a reflection of your ability to manage your credit. Paying off your debt is not managing your debt. If you have a zero balance, how can you manage it? You don't. It no longer exists. And you cannot manage what does not exist, right? Therefore, in terms of credit score, you have demonstrated your ability to swiftly pay off accounts to avoid managing them. Thus, slightly decreasing your credit score.

One exception, of course, is if you're over extended to begin with. Pay off what's necessary to make your credit profile look great. Then manage the remaining credit.

7. Don't Close Accounts

Even if you pay off revolving debts, do not close the account. The longer an account is open with no negative reports, the better it reflects in your overall credit score. This is due to the weighted-average in the credit score formula. Many credit experts suggest a balance of 30% of your credit limit. That's ideal. But you can go as high as 70% and still maintain a healthy credit score.

8. No New Credit

You must be vigilant in your credit behavior if you want the best credit score. Therefore, do not get any new credit unless it is absolutely necessary. Each time you apply for credit, an inquiry is added to your report. This usually drops your credit score slightly. When you have fresh credit, there is no track record how you will manage (or pay) this account. Therefore, it's a higher risk which results in a minor drop in your credit score. Remember, your credit score is about risk assessment.

Here's what you do: obtain credit for your housing, transportation, college or continued education and 3-5 credit cards. That's really all you need for personal credit. If you want more credit, request a credit limit increase on your current cards rather than apply for new ones.

9. Maintain A Mix of Credit Types

If you show you can handle different types of credit at the same time, you are rewarded with a great credit score. In other words, get installment loans like vehicle, personal loan or mortgage. Get revolving credit like credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Sears, Sunoco Gas, Costco. By mixing it up, you demonstrate you can manage your credit because you will have short term and long term credit with a fixed payment. As well as a "variable" monthly payment on your credit cards.

Keep these accounts open with a balance of 70% or less and paid on time and you will witness your credit score climb to great heights.

10. Don't File Bankruptcy or Foreclosure

Here's the most obvious advice: Don't file for bankruptcy or foreclosure. These stay on your credit report for 10 years and always decrease your credit score. The older the bankruptcy or foreclosure account becomes, coupled with re-built credit history, the less of an impact they play on your credit score.

Contrary to popular beliefs, you can legally delete a bankruptcy and foreclosure. It's not easy. But it's possible. See the advanced methods for that solution.

To quickly rebuild your credit history after a bankruptcy or foreclosure, use the Round Robin strategy above and get secured credit cards. Now you can even get a car loan or mortgage right after bankruptcy.

© 2004 David Czach.

-------- Editor's Note ----------

Dave Czach has 12 years experience in the mortgage business and a Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate. It's a well known fact that lenders will give people with higher credit scores lower interest rates on mortgages, car loans and credit cards. If your credit score falls under 620 just getting loans and credit cards with reasonable terms is difficult.

There are more than 30 million people in the United States that have credit scores under 620 and if you’re probably wondering what you can do to raise credit score for you.

Here are five simple tips that you can use to raise credit score.

1. Get a copy of your credit report

Obtaining a copy of your credit report is a good idea because if there is something on your report that is incorrect, you will raise credit score once it is removed. Make sure you contact the bureau immediately to remove any incorrect information.

Your credit report should come from the three major bureaus: Experian, Trans Union and Equifax. It's important to know that each service will give you a different credit score.

2. Pay Your Bills On Time

Your payment history makes up 35% of your total credit score. Your recent payment history will carry much more weight than what happened five years ago.

Missing just one months payment on anything can knock 50 to 100 points off of your credit score.

Paying your bills on time is a single best way to start rebuilding your credit rating and raise credit score for you.

3. Pay Down Your Debt

Your credit card issuer reports your outstanding balance once a month to the credit bureaus. It doesn't matter whether you pay off that balance a few days later or whether you carry it from month to month.

Most people don’t realize that credit bureaus don’t distinguish between those who carry a balance on their cards and those who don’t. So by charging less you can raise credit score even if you pay off your credit cards every month.

Lenders also like to see a lot of of room between the amount of debt on your credit cards and your total credit limits. So the more debt you pay off, the wider that gap and the better your credit score.

4. Don’t Close Old Accounts

In the past people were told to close old accounts they weren’t using. But with today's current scoring methods that could actually hurt your credit score.

Closing old or paid off credit accounts lowers the total credit available to you and makes any balances you have appear larger in credit score calculations. Closing your oldest accounts can actually shorten the length of your credit history and to a lender it makes you less credit worthy.

If you are trying to minimize identity theft and it's worth the peace of mind for you to close your old or paid off accounts, the good news is it will only lower you score a minimal amount. But just by keeping those old accounts open you can raise credit score for you.

5. Stay Out Of Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy is the single worst thing that will destroy your credit score. Bankruptcy will lower your credit score by 200 points or more and is very difficult to come back from.

Once your credit score falls below 620, any loan you get will be far more expensive. A bankruptcy on your credit record is reported for up to 10 years.

The reality of a bankruptcy is it will limit you to high-interest lenders that will squeeze out high interest rate payments from you for years.

It is better to get credit counseling to help you with your bills and avoid bankruptcy at all costs. By getting credit counseling instead of declaring bankruptcy you can raise credit score over a much shorter period of time.

Copyright © 2005 Credit Repair Facts.com All Rights Reserved.

Gary Gresham is a mortgage loan officer and the webmaster for http://www.credit-repair-facts.com He offers you credit information, debt elimination programs and informative facts that give you the knowledge to correct your own credit and credit report. As most of the internet surfers should already have noticed, many credit card companies operating online and offline for that matter, announce they can offter the best credit card online, even with instant approval if you apply for it on their website. Some people think that this means they can instantly download a copy of a card like waving a magic stick and start to purchase with it immideately. Let's sort out some confusion here. Many credit card websites can approve your application instantly, which in most cases means within a few minutes. But that doesn't mean you can print out your card and run to your local Wal-Mart or Target or wherever and immedeately shop. Of course you can shop, but not with your newly approved card, because you have not received it yet.

Though the approval procedure only takes minutes, you have to be patient and wait for your card. This will be sent in the mail, and it will take a few days. Now, the nice thing with applying online for a card is that you know if you are approved for it or not within a fairly short time, and I would think that this is the best thing for people to know, or like the saying goes "those who are waiting for something good don't wait in vain"

Compared to the old-fashioned way of doing it, returning the snail mail offer for a credit card, waiting days or even weeks for the bank or credit card company to process it and run your credit, and finally waiting for them to send out your new credit card, the online way is far more convenient and fast. Another advantage of doing the application online is that it also gives you a fantastic option to compare the cost of credit offered from a lot of card companies.

There are certain limitations however on who is eligible for an Instant online credit card approval. Instant approval credit card offers are targeted to - or at least originally meant to be for - people with good credit records. However, there are ways to go around this and sometimes this might be pure luck. What I mean is, sometimes the card company you apply to, may not be able to access your credit records for some reasons. But this is an exception. The competition on the credit market is so high today, that some companies are willing to tow the line pretty far to get customers. The bottom line is that even if your credit history is not so good, you can obtain an instantly approved credit card. So regardless to what your credit rating is, there is no reason not to apply.

If you want to apply for an instant approval of a credit card online, go to the web and search for instant credit card approval an you'll have more than enough websites to choose among, giving you the opportunity to compare the offers from different sites with respect to the cost of credit. Then you will be able to find the best deal. Good luck!

Terje Brooks Ellingsen is a writer and internet publisher. For some credit cards today, if you are late, you will have to shell out as much as $40 each time. This can put a nice sized hole in your pocket really quick.

Below, I will provide you with some tips and strategies on how to steer clear of those monstrous late fees. This will not only save you a lot of money in the long run, but it will also keep those money-hungry credit card companies, I won’t mention any names, from getting your hard earned money.

Just pay your bill. One of the easiest ways of avoiding a late fee is to just pay your bill each and every month by sending in a check, money order, or other type of payment to your respective credit card issuer. Just make sure you follow the numerous guidelines, which are usually outlined on the back of each credit card bill, on how to send in your payment. These guidelines must be followed precisely if you want to guarantee that your payment will go through on time.

Payment guidelines may include everything from a specific payment address to the time of day by which the payment must be received to be credited that day. Many issuers also stipulate that payments must arrive in the preprinted envelope sent to the customer.

While the Fair Credit Billing Act requires issuers to credit payments the day they are received, each issuer is allowed to set specific payment guidelines. If any of the guidelines are not met, the issuer can take as many as five days to credit the payment.

An on-time payment could easily become late during that five-day period, so follow those payment guidelines carefully.

Just skip the payment. One of the more rare types of methods you hear of are Skip-A-Payment services. You can use these services to skip mortgage, credit card, or loan payments. Usually you would need to get in contact with your bank just to see if you even qualify or not. There are also independent companies out there that will allow you to do the same thing, no matter what bank you are a member of. Depending on whose service you use, the fee’s associated with it vary. When you use these types of services make sure you know how much you will be charged then decide if it’s worth it or not.

Pay minimum due immediately. One of the best ways to prevent a late fee from being charged to your account is to pay the minimum due immediately. As soon as you receive your bill, send in the minimum due. This will always insure that your credit card issuer received payment. You can always send in more money later if you decide otherwise. This is a great way to avoid missing a payment because if you forget to send extra money you can guarantee that you won’t be charged a late fee because the minimum due has been already been paid.

Move your due date. Are your credit card bills due at a time of the month when you're running low on cash? Many people have trouble saving money, so when it comes time to paying their credit card bills, they don’t have any cash to do so. One particular solution is to move your due date. Many credit card issuers will allow you to set your own due date to meet your specific needs. If you have trouble saving money, move your due date to a time when you do have money, like as soon as you get your paycheck. If you time your credit card bill to come the same day you get paid, you will always have cash to pay the bill.

Pay by phone. If you are one of those people that wait to the last minute to do everything or if you just forgot to send in your credit card payment early enough, you could always pay by phone. This guarantees that your payment will be on time. Just supply the representative on the other line with your checking account number and your bank routing number, which is printed at the bottom of each check. Usually the routing number is first and the account number is second. A lot of issuers allow you to pay by phone and some will charge you a pretty penny for doing so. Fee’s can range from $5 to $20.

Use other express methods. If your bank does not offer a “pay by phone” service and you need to get your payment to your credit card issuer as soon as possible, I recommend either sending your payment in by express mail or by Western Union. Either one of these services can get your payment to your credit card issuer immediately. These express methods are costly, but it will always most likely be cheaper than any fees associated with being late. Make sure you send your express payment to the proper address. Many issuers have separate payment addresses for express payments. The last thing you want to do is slow the processing of an express payment by sending it to the wrong address.

Daryl Flagg is the founder and CEO of Next Month Online. Whether you choose to pay for a sample letter for credit repair or use one of the free credit repair letters, the process is the same.

Before the letter writing can begin, you will need to obtain copies of your credit report. These can be viewed and printed at www.annualcreditreport.com. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recommends that you spell it correctly or you may end up at an impostor site. The FTC also has brochure which includes a sample letter for credit repair.

Once you have your credit reports, you will need to check them for inaccurate information and report the inaccuracies to the applicable credit bureau. This is also referred to as a dispute or disputed information. You can use the wording in this sample letter for credit repair or the wording in other free credit repair letters. The main thing to remember is to keep the letter unemotional. Simply state the facts.

Sample Letter for Credit Repair:

Today’s Date

Some free credit repair letters suggest that you include your name and address at this point, others include it at the end. The FTC sample letter for credit repair suggests the use of the phrase “complaint department”. The use of that phrase, as well as where to put your name and address seems to be a personal choice.

Address of the Credit Bureau which is reporting the inaccurate information:

Equifax
PO Box 740256
Atlanta, GA 30374-0241

Trans Union
PO Box 2000
Chester, PA 19022

Experian
PO Box 2104
Allen, TX 75013

Re: Credit File Problem

To Whom It May Concern: (Dear Sir or Madam)

I recently reviewed a copy of the credit file your company maintains in my name. While doing this, I identified the following problem(s): (The sample letter for credit repair suggested by the FTC is written a little differently.)

I have enclosed the following documentation that supports my claim:

If you have any “proof” that the information is inaccurate, (statements, cancelled checks, the “proof” depends on the individual item) list it here and enclose a copy (not the original). If it is not possible to provide “proof”, for instance if you do not believe that you ever had an account with a listed company, simply state what information you are trying to correct and leave out the line about documentation.

Please investigate and correct this (these) problem(s) as quickly as possible and send a corrected copy of my credit report to my home address.

You may want to include a copy of the inaccurate credit report with the disputed information circled or highlighted. If you are disputing several items, you can use one letter for all or one letter for each. The credit bureaus may be less likely to consider a claim frivolous if you send one letter for each disputed item. They are not required to investigate disputes which they consider “frivolous”.

Examples of free credit repair letters close formally, using “Sincerely” and your signature.

If you do not receive a response from the credit bureau within 30 days, you can send a follow-up letter. A follow-up sample letter for credit repair follows. The date, greeting, closing and addresses would be the same. The body of the letter would be something like this:

On (applicable date), I contacted this bureau regarding the inaccurate information in my credit file. I have waited a reasonable amount of time and have received no reply regarding my dispute. Please correct this information immediately.

You may want to include a copy of the original letter, credit report and any documentation that you originally sent. If the credit bureaus do not respond to your requests; if you cannot achieve results using this or another form of free credit repair letters or a sample letter for credit repair included in software programs, contact an attorney, preferably one that specializes in credit repair issues.

For more information about the sample letter for credit repair, visit the Credit Repair Blog.

The writers and editors of the Credit Repair Blog are committed to providing accurate information about credit repair issues. Or else.

The people in the credit industry are quite well aware of the existence of the form letters and they have seen them all.

At best, you are telling them that your letter is part of a credit repair effort rather than a legitimate dispute.

If you are considering using a credit repair form letter you should also be aware that thousands of other people have also thought about it.

No matter where you find your credit repair form letter at, many before you have used it. These can be used exactly the same way as a traditional credit card however you place cash advancements on the card first, which in effect becomes the limit on the card you are able to use. These cards are available fairly easily as there are no risks to the financial lenders and thus gives you all the advantages of a normal credit card without any possibility of placing yourself into a debt situation.

Over time using this means of payment while maintaining any other financial commitments you may have will regain your credit score and in time will lead to you being able to approach companies for a traditional credit card, should you wish, plus all other forms of credit arrangements.

Copywrite 2005 Terry Till

http://www.credit-card-offer-deal.info

Webmasters: You may reprint or use this article for your website or ezines, providing you use the full copy without amendments and leave all the links and resource box intact.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Terry_Till

Credit Cards: Are You Too Lazy to Save Money

Well perhaps lazy is too strong a word and complacent might fit the bill better.

It’s a startling headline but true that there are thousands of people worldwide that never bother to check how competitive their credit cards annual percentage rate is. The truth is that most people who start off with a good interest rate on their credit card accept that it will always be competitive and are losing thousands of dollars per year in interest charges. Get a good interest rate card here

Keeping track of how competitive your credit card interest rate is might seem a bit of a chore, however I try to look at the situation is this way. Consider that your credit card company is charging you even a reasonable 5% interest rate and you are eligible to transfer your balance owed to another credit card company who are offering a 0% interest transfer rate, this could save you a substantial monthly amount which could be used for a vacation or similar enjoyable use of your hard earned money.

Just think now, when was the last time that you sat down and really considered what your credit card company was charging you in interest each month, again consider when was the last time that you took a positive attitude to search for a more competitive credit card.

With credit card companies now aggressively advertising for new customers and offering their best interest rate products it really is in your own interest to seek out and take advantage of any better rate deal that is available to you.

Perhaps again you should consider how many hours per week you have to work just to pay the interest on your credit card bill, this way at looking at interest charges can be quite sobering and should give you the boost to seek out better credit card offers that are being advertised daily and are yours for the taking.

Many people seem to place a misguided loyalty in staying with one credit card company and think that this may be of benefit to them, however it really is the fact that now a days loyalty to any financial institution rarely pays dividends and you should monitor your credit card interest charges on a regular basis with a view to constantly updating your situation and positively managing your financial out goings.

Always remember that it is up to you to be aware of any savings you can make by transferring to a better credit card company who offer a better credit card interest rate, your existing lender will very rarely advise you to move to one of their new products that will save you money but reduce their profits.

Copyright 2006 Terry Till

http://www.credit-card-offer-deal.info/credit-card-interest-rate.htm

Webmasters and ezine owners may use this article provided they leave all the content, links and resource box intact and without alteration.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Terry_Till

Will a Secured Credit Card Help Me Rebuild My Credit?

Not long after you start your credit repair process you will find several offers for secured credit cards.

These cards require a deposit of cash in a savings account that will be used to secure the credit limit of the credit card.

After about a year of on time payments, you may qualify for an unsecured card and you can get the initial deposit back.

All of the secured credit card providers use the fact they report to all credit bureaus as a selling point.

Because of that, a secured credit card can be helpful in getting the first newly active account on a dormant credit report.

But beware, they are not free. There will inevitably be some type of application fee or membership fee. In fact, you can count on a substantial portion of the initial deposit to be charged to card as fees right off the bat.

You may end up with as little as $50 remaining credit and a balance of $150 you have to pay off. And that is after spending $200 out of pocket.

The bottom line: Secured credit cards can help you jump start a dormant credit file.
